the comfort of your own bathroom
There is something about the first late-night poop and shower after coming back home.
Like when you were away for a few days or weeks because of travel, work, or whatever, staying at some other place and then finally you are back home. You reach late evening or at night, use your own bathroom, take that peaceful poop and then shower, and for some reason both just hit different.
You feel comfortable in a way you probably did not even realise you were missing. Everything is familiar again—your bathroom, your space, your stuff. No adjusting to anything, no figuring out which tap is secretly boiling water and which one does absolutely nothing.
And maybe because you are finally comfortable, the subconscious mind also starts doing its thing. You start reflecting on whatever happened while you were away, random moments come back, some thoughts begin making sense and then out of nowhere some really good ideas also pop up.
Maybe the brain was too busy experiencing everything before and only starts processing it once you are back in your own comfort. Basically, the body is unpacking physically while the brain starts unpacking all the random shit mentally.
And it is probably not just about the shower or bathroom either. It can be your own bed, your pillow, sitting in your usual corner, opening your laptop, or just doing some random routine that makes the brain realise, okay, we are home now.
And the sleep after all this is just beyond perfect. You finally lie down in your usual place, on your own bed, with your own pillow and whatever little things you were missing without even realising it. You know what I mean, that sleep where the body just gives up instantly and you wake up feeling like you were gone from this world for eight hours.
Idk if everyone has noticed this or experienced it, but that first poop, shower and sleep after coming back home is just something else only.
I was in a similar situation tonight, so thought of writing it out. Idk if it makes sense or is completely silly and nonsensical to you. Whatever it is, if you wanna talk to me, write me here: gawdknows@proton.me
